Veteran journalist Syed Mohammad Ullah played a unique general role in the development of Bengali newspapers published from New York. Syed Mohammad Ullah has struggled to create international public opinion for the restoration of democracy by ending the dictatorship in Bangladesh since his first venture to start 'Prabasi Patrika' in New York in 1985 and 'Prabasi Patrika' has created a wave of pro-democracy in North America. When Syed Mohammad Ullah started 'Prabasi Patrika' in 1985, he purchased a very modern photocomposite machine and started publishing the magazine with his own financing as a sole proprietorship. Pravasi Patrika has played an unforgettable role in building the Bangladeshi community. He was the first Bangladeshi journalist who had the privilege of covering the moment of recognition by the United Nations and the first speech given by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after the independence of Bangladesh on behalf of Eastern News Agency.

Syed Mohammad Ullah was born on 31 December 1941 in Feni (Greater Noakhali) district. Currently, he is 83 years old. He is married to Dilruba Akhtar and is the father of three children.
