Lutfey Siddiqi CFA is Managing Director in charge of Corporate FX and Risk Advisory Asia-Pacific at Barclays Capital. As a member of the global steering committee for Foreign Exchange, he oversees a team of currency and risk management specialists located in Singapore , Japan , India , Hong Kong , Korea , Taiwan , Indonesia and Australia . Concurrently, Mr. Siddiqi is a post-graduate lecturer of Financial Engineering at the National University of Singapore. In addition, he has guest-lectured at various academic and industry forums including the London School of Economics, University of York , ( University of Hong Kong , and the Indian Institute of Banking. He has also been interviewed or cited widely in the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Financial Times, Asia Risk
and Euromoney. Prior to moving to Asia , Mr. Siddiqi was Global Head of Foreign Exchange Structuring at Barclays Capital in London , presiding over the development of several industry-first structured products. Before joining Barclays Capital in 2002, he was a Director at Deutsche bank London .
Mr. Siddiqi obtained his MSc (Econ.) on LSE scholarship from the London School of Economics, a First-Class BSc (Hon.) in Econometrics from the University of York and the International Baccalaureate on a Prince of Wales Scholarship from United World College of the Atlantic , Wales .
At University, Mr. Siddiqi was President of the 700-strong Overseas Students' Association and an Executive Member of the Students' Union. He has contributed posteditorials to several newspapers including an article in 1996 entitled "Declare 1997 as the Invest in Bangladesh Year" in the Daily Star Dhaka. More recently, he was Chairman of the panel discussion entitled " Basel 2 and Beyond" at the inaugural conference of the Risk Management Institute at the National University of Singapore (July 2007).
The list of speakers at the event includes Nobel Laureate Robert C. Merton and John Hull. He was also co-host of the "Bangladesh & Singapore Development Forum" at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on 2 nd Nov 2007 in Singapore . The list of speakers include Nobel Laureate Prof. Yunus, acclaimed Public Policy specialist and former Ambassador Kishore Mahbubani, Mr. Dhanabalan, former Cabinet Minister and current Chairman of Temasek Holdings and Messrs. Akbar Ali Khan and Manzur Elahi, former Advisers to caretaker governments in Bangladesh .
Following Cyclone Sidr in November 2007, Mr. Siddiqi mobilised taka 15 lacs from corporate and individual sources at Barclays for the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund. A dual citizen of UK and Bangladesh , Lutfey Siddiqi is the son of Mr. AYBI Siddiqi (former Secretary & IGP) and Mrs. Rehana Siddiqi.
