Dr. Abdun Noor’s professional career spanned over forty years at The World Bank in Washington DC, both as a regular staff and as a retiree, where he primarily focused on education policy, basic human needs, humane sources development, poverty alleviation and project implementation across thirty-five developing countries over five continents (1970-2013). Dr. Noor led the formulation of Education and Manpower Policies for the First Five Year Development Plan of Bangladesh (1974-1978) after acquiring independence.

Concurrent with his professional human development strives, Dr . Abdun Noor has pursued creative writings reflecting the internationalisms of his experience and depicting the dilemma of human destiny. His first novel “Pegasus” dwells on the aspirations of the progenies of indentured Indian workers for the “United March of Freedom “ , for the nation of Guyana, in 1964. “Bicholito Somoy “ is an epic novel of over a thousand pages covering the creation of Bengali nationalism under Mughal rule of Bangladesh during 17 th century and depicts vividly the resistance of common people against the surge of colonial forces conspired by the Portuguese and British traders. His latest book, “ Thy Names “ articulates the splendors of ninety -nine beautiful attributes of God.

Dr. Adun Noor is an international development expert, an author, a playwright and a novelist. He has devoted his entire professional life to foster economic and social development among the least developed countries of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean; 35 years of his career were spent at the World Bank at Washington DC. He has carried out development and learning initiatives for the Islamic Development Bank; the European University of Peace; Austrian Study Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution, and for the Arab Bank for the Development of Africa. In his creative literary writings, he depicts core values of human endeavor, and portrays the journey of common people, whether residing in the Caribbean, Bangladesh, India, or USA to the universality of Faith. In this latest book, Dr. Noor articulates his submissions on Thy Names, outlining the attributes of One God, noted in Al-Qur’an as ‘Asmau’l Husna’. The munajat on ninety-nine names is an expression of the author’s own understanding of the core social, cultural and spiritual values of Islam, which complements and sustains the epic values of all faiths. Dr. Abdun Noor currently is the coordinator of the Center for Managing Implementation of Development Programs (www.CMIDP.com), which acts as a forum for enhancing development dialogue and learning. He lives with his wife in Potomac, Maryland.
